18-year-old Ming has a crisis with her Chinese-German identity: she feels like she doesn't fit into this world.
One summer night, after a fight with her parents and a terrible house party, she meets a real alien-girl- band who offer her the chance to leave Earth with them. But the moment Ming steps onto the spaceship, she realizes that true happiness and self-discovery cannot be achieved through escape...
For me, identity is an eternal theme. As a director who grew up in China and later started her artistic career in Europe, I want to tell stories of my group; as an artist who combines film and theater, I am fascinated by the "impossible".
I make a movie about growing up in my unique artistic language and make the impossible possible in the story. The strange summer night of an 18-year-old girl is a poem for all teenagers and lonely ”me".
*The movie was shot in October 2024 and is now under editing. It is expected to be released in summer 2025.
